What is Exfoliator for Face and Why do I need it?

exfoliator for face a great skin at a beautiful woman“Use an exfoliator for face because exfoliation is essential for our skin health!” That’s a phrase we hear all the time around us. But what the hell is exfoliation or exfoliator for face? Why do we need them?

In general, we assume that as long as we are using a cleanser, a moisturizer and applying a sun cream protection we are done. We are not done yet, we forget an essential step in cleaning our face: the exfoliator for face.

Definitions Exfoliation and Exfoliator for Face

Exfoliation is the method by which the oldest dead skin cells are removed from the outer layer of skin. An exfoliator for face is an exfoliation product used to unglue or to scrub away these dead skin cells.

There are two types of exfoliants or exfoliators. First, a chemical or acid exfoliant: you apply it, leave it on the skin, and it works to dissolve the dry skin cells. These exfoliants include ingredients like an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) or beta hydroxy acid (BHA). Second, a physical or mechanical exfoliant used to remove dead skin cells via friction. These exfoliants include facial brushes, sponges, and facial scrubs.

Do I need an exfoliation?

Yes, you do!

The uppermost layer of the skin is composed of keratinised skin cells that form a protective layer. They are held together with natural fats or lipids. As more are produced by the epidermis, older cells become detached and are continually being shed, making your skin look thick, dry, rough and lifeless.

In youth, skin exfoliates naturally, regenerating new skin cells fast, leaving us with skin that simply glow. As we age, we are more prone to cell buildup because our skin cell turnover tends to slow down, loosing the youthful skin glow. As a matter of fact, older skin still renews and regenerates new skin cells, but the old skin cells stay put on the outer layer of skin, instead of falling off, covering our youthful skin. It is important to remove this layer of older cells (exfoliation) to speed up the cell renewal process and create clean, younger looking skin.

Exfoliation is especially important if we live in a place that is highly exposed to pollution and other air contaminants, or if we have problematic skin.

Benefits to using a exfoliator for face are endless:

  • To remove dead skin cells  and impurities from the surface of the skin
  • A younger look for your skin
  • The process increases supply of blood and nutrients to the facial skin
  • Stimulating the production of the ever important collagen
  • Exfoliate face  reduces the fine lines that finally result in wrinkles
  • An exfoliator for face helps your moisturizer and skin care treatments penetrate better.

It is so easy to get and keep great skin with an exfoliator for face. As we know a little change today is a big change tomorrow.

      Hi Adele,
      Thank you for your comment!
Many dermatologists and skincare experts are agreed that chemical exfoliants like the products containing fruit acids, enzymes supply all benefits of exfoliating such as removal of dead skin, increasing supply of blood and nutrients to the skin, stimulating the production of collagen, without causing any damage. In my next post, I will write a lot of new details about chemical and physical exfoliants, stay close.
